Danni was once told she may never walk independently.
Instead, she found confidence, independence and purpose through sport - going on to become a record-setting track and field athlete.
Now, she brings that same belief in movement and community to veterans and families in Toowoomba, where she volunteers with Invictus Australia’s weekly indoor rowing program.
This National Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating people like Danni, who show up, give back and help others rediscover what they’re capable of.
Thank you, Danni.

“I know the power of community and sport in helping people through the highs and lows of life. This is my way of giving back.” – Jess Jonassen
After 13 years representing Australia and 17 for Queensland, WNCL and WBBL star Jess Jonassen knows what it means to face setbacks.
Injuries. Recovery. Relocation. The mental toll of elite sport. The search for purpose when thinking about what’s next beyond her sporting career.
These experiences mirror what many veterans face during and after service. And Jess sees it.
Recognising these shared challenges, Jess used her platform to support those who’ve served. Last season, she donated $15 for every wicket and $5 for every run she scored in the WNCL and WBBL.
Now, you can follow in Jess’s footsteps.
Join ZERO600 (June 1-6) and fundraise for veteran sport programs. Rise at 6am. Get active. Make an impact. It has never mattered more.

Showing up for your community matters.
This National Volunteer Week, we’re recognising the veterans, families and supporters who give their time to help others feel connected, included and part of something bigger.
Volunteering creates opportunities to build friendships, share experiences and strengthen communities through connection and purpose.
To every volunteer helping make a difference across the Invictus Australia community - thank you.
This week, we will be spotlighting volunteers who support the defence community through sporting opportunities.
