Invictus Australia and Defence Kidz Partner to Empower the Next Generation
Invictus Australia is proud to announce a new partnership with Defence Kidz, an organisation dedicated to supporting military families, especially children of Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. This collaboration unites two organisations that deeply understand the distinct needs of defence families and share a common mission: to empower, uplift, and connect defence communities.
This partnership aligns with key findings from the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide, which underscores the critical role of family and community support in veterans’ mental health and wellbeing. According to the findings, strong family bonds provide veterans with essential emotional stability and motivation, particularly during the transition from military to civilian life. With our partnership, we hope to strengthen these bonds further, providing Defence family members with the community, tools, and resources they need to thrive, fostering both resilience and a sense of connection through sport.
Supporting the Children of Defence Families
Children in defence families face unique challenges that significantly impact their lives, including frequent relocations, adapting to new schools, and coping with the extended absence of loved ones due to deployments. These experiences often shape family dynamics and influence the mental health of children, making access to dedicated resources vital for their wellbeing. The Royal Commission found that the effects of service life on families can be substantial, emphasising that families, particularly children, need specialised support. Through tailored resources, Defence Kidz provides a steadfast support system for these children, helping them navigate the complexities of military life. These resources aim to help military children feel recognised and valued within both defence and civilian communities.
Defence Kidz have already been supporting military families at Invictus Australia community events, providing resources and activities to connect and engage children who attend these events. This gives the kids opportunities to talk with each other about the similar experiences they have had. This connection ensures that children of current and former serving personnel are being given dedicated avenues to understand the complexities of the environment they are growing up in, giving them opportunities to connect with other likeminded kids.

Both Invictus Australia and Defence Kidz are united in their vision for a future where the contributions and needs of defence families are fully recognised, respected, and celebrated.
