Adaptive Sport Program Expressions of Interest reopen for Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025
ExpressionS of Interest (EOI) FOR THE INVICTUS GAMES 2025 ARE NOW CLOSED. see how you can get involved in local community sport here.
The Adaptive Sport Program’s (ASP) focus is to support the recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration of participants and, through their stories, raise awareness of the issues faced by veterans and families and the life-changing power of sport.
The ASP is the program which prepares teams Teams for upcoming Warrior Games and Invictus Games. With the Warrior Games squad confirmed for later this year, the ASP now looks to select members for the upcoming Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.
This EOI for competitors is open to wounded, injured or ill serving and former serving ADF personnel from the regular or reserve ADF who have become wounded, injured or ill during or as a direct consequence of their service.
The selection process aims to identify individuals that would benefit most from the experience in their recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration efforts and considers attitude and behaviour, commitment, and sportsmanship. Selection is not based on the likelihood of winning.
The Invictus Games plays a critical role in the recovery of the competitor’s and their family and friends. A dedicated family and friends program including attendance at the Games with a full schedule of activities and events has been a feature of the Invictus Games, recognising the important role of family and friends.
There are limited positions available for Australian Teams and not every eligible person will be able to attend an Invictus Games. These teams are filled from applicants to the ASP. Following the closing date for EOIs for the ASP, a process of accepting individuals into the program will commence, which will reduce the pool to a small squad to keep training toward achieving selection in those Teams.
Unfortunately, many who apply will miss out on involvement in the ASP. However, Invictus Australia encourages and supports all individuals who apply to re-commence or continue their journey toward life-long participation in sport. Other opportunities for competition and activities to participate will be offered, as well as a contact point to assist with exploring alternative opportunities.
