Excitement builds as we near the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. With just over a week to go, Team Australia are finalising their preparation ahead of the seventh iteration of the global adaptive sports event.
We have pulled together all the information you need to be Games ready ahead of the events kick off in Canada on the 8th of February 2025.
What are the Invictus Games?
The Invictus Games are a multi-national sporting event for wounded, injured and ill servicemen and women, held globally since its inception in 2014 by the Duke of Sussex.
Invictus Australia works in partnership with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to support former serving members and their families to attend the Invictus Games and other adaptive sport activities.
The Games harness the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who serve their country.
The Invictus Games is about much more than just sport – it captures hearts, challenges minds, changes lives and recognises the significant contribution made by family and friends in the recovery process.
This year’s iteration, The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025, scheduled from 8-16 of February, will bring together 532 competitors from 23 countries. Team Australia, comprising 33 serving and former serving ADF personnel, along with over 80 of their family and friends, is set to make their mark on the world stage.




Who is competing for Australia?

The team of 33 Australian veterans were selected from the ADF Adaptive Sport Program, which is open to all wounded, injured, or ill current and former serving personnel from any branch of the regular or reserve ADF. With diverse backgrounds, the team has been diligently training to hone their skills and forge strong bonds through shared experiences.

What sports can I watch Team Australia compete in?
Excitingly, this iteration of the Invictus Games will feature winter adaptive sports for the first time. As well as the returning core Invictus Games sports indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair basketball, Team Australia will also compete in; alpine skiing and snowboarding, nordic skiing and biathlon, skeleton and wheelchair curling.

How can I watch the Invictus Games from Australia?
The 9Network has partnered with the Invictus Games Foundation as the official Australian broadcaster of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.
The 9Network will air the daily, international sports highlights packages and Opening and Closing ceremonies on 9Gem, as well as additional coverage streamed on 9Now. Talent announced for the ceremonies to date include Katy Perry, Nelly Furtado, Noah Khan, Barenaked Ladies and Jelly Roll – so you do not want to miss the action!
