Supporting veteran strength and performance in the Hunter
Veteran Sport Australia (VSA) in conjunction with Hunter Strength and Performance is excited to announce the launch of the Veteran Strength Training Group.
Starting 19 June, the group will come together every Wednesday from 5-7pm at Hunter Strength and Performance gym, a veteran owned and operated business. The group is open to all veterans and offers the chance to lift weights, train, learn and connect with other veterans in the local area.
The group is free for all veterans and is run by the Hunter Strength and Performance team and VSA veteran engagement specialist, Rachel Kerrigan. Veterans with injuries or who require adaptive lifting equipment are encouraged to come along and see what they can do as well.
“It’s great to see a veteran owned gym supporting local veterans and encouraging them to get active,” says Rachel Kerrigan. “The coaches from Hunter Strength and Performance are building this great culture of passion and support that will help both new and experienced lifters get involved.”
Hunter Strength and Performance owner, Leroy Scott said “we wanted to create a space where veterans could come together and encourage each other to get active and push their limits. New lifters might find a passion for powerlifting and they will certainly find a supportive community in our gym.”
