𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? A whop 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? A whopping 2.3 million Aussies lend their time and passion to sports and physical activities annually. They're the backbone of community, competition, and elite events, shaping the active, sporty lifestyle we all love! This #InternationalVolunteerDay we're shining a spotlight on the unsung heroes who make the heart of sports beat 💛 – our incredible volunteers! 🙌

Volunteer opportunities aren't just about giving; they're about gaining strong social connections, camaraderie and being #UnconqueredTogether which is why volunteering is a fantastic way for the Defence community to get active & connected through sport 🤝🖤

Studies reveal that volunteering isn't just a selfless act; it's a ticket to a healthier, happier life. According to ABS, sports volunteers lead healthier lifestyles, are more community-oriented, and report higher levels of happiness and satisfaction.

At Invictus Australia, we want to give a round of applause and extend our gratitude to the volunteers supporting sports nationwide. Without volunteering, we simply couldn’t enjoy the active, sporty lifestyle us Aussies are known for!

Tomorrow is #InternationalVolunteerDay and we’re shining a spotlight on the unsung heroes who make the heart of sports beat 💛 – our incredible volunteers! 🙌

Meet Hannie 👋 who joined nearly 1200 volunteers at the Sydney Invictus Games in 2018... but why? Because when it comes to volunteering, you often receive back as much as you put in.

Sport wouldn’t happen without volunteers, both at a grassroots level or on the international stage. Tomorrow, on International Volunteers Day we pay homage to those that donate something so valuable to Australian sport and community - their time, passion and spirit.

"My amputation is not a death sentence, rather a n "My amputation is not a death sentence, rather a new beginning."

To mark the International Day for People with Disability, we are highlighting Ainsley Hooker, an Invictus Games 2023 Dusseldorf competitor.

Ainsley was medically discharged from the army in 2013 after a bad ankle injury that eventually led to a below-knee amputation in 2020. She credits sport as essential to her physical and mental recovery, which became an eye-opening activity for her. Through her experience at the Invictus Games 2023 Dusseldorf, Ainsley has found a place to connect with other people who share similar experiences, reigniting the drive she always had.
