Making strides for veterans with parkrun
Another fan favourite, sitting volleyball! Australia’s sitting volleyball team is ready to take center court at this year’s Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025!
Played from a seated position on a smaller court, this dynamic sport demands quick reflexes, sharp instincts, and seamless collaboration as competitors send the ball over the net in fast-paced rallies. With a best-of-3 set format, every match is a thrilling showcase of inclusivity, communication, and determination.
With six players on the court at one time, this sport demands teamwork for success.
Hear from Invictus and Warrior Games alumna Vanessa Broughill as she shares her passion for this high energy team sport. Don’t miss the action as these competitors work together and inspire us all!
You are now up to speed on the sports #TeamAus will compete in at the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. Get ready to cheer them on!

Over the past two months, defence community members in Victoria have been getting together in Lara regularly to connect on the court and try out pickleball.
Facilitated by Veteran Engagement Manager Chris in collaboration with Lara Pickleball and Lara RSL, veterans and families have enjoyed how this program allows them to stay active, share laughs and enjoy some time connecting with the local pickleball communities.
For many, it’s about more than the game—it’s a chance to reconnect, build friendships, and support each other in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Whether they’re picking up a paddle for the first time or rediscovering a love for sport, everyone has been leaving with a smile.
Special thanks to the Department of Veterans Affairs for supporting this program.

Next up in our sport explainer series, CPL Jason Moore, Allied Winter Sport Camp alumnus introduces us to Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding, both making their debut at the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025!
Taking place on the slopes of Whistler Mountain, these events will see competitors race down slalom-style courses, testing their speed, balance, and precision. Depending on their experience, the course extends between 190 – 120m, with 10-20 directional changes. Whether carving turns on skis or a snowboard, participants will showcase their courage, adaptability, and determination to conquer the challenges of the mountain.
We partner with @sportsadf to deliver Team Australia to the Invictus Games.
