What is Invictus Australia’s relationship with the Australian Defence Force?
Invictus Australia works collaboratively with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to support Team Australia and their families to attend the Invictus Games. ADF are responsible for the current serving contingent and IA for former serving. While Invictus Australia is the licensed brand for the Invictus movement in Australia via the Invictus Games Foundation, the ADF has an operational role with the team selected to attend Adaptive Sporting Events such as the Invictus Games or Warrior Games. The ADF is recognised as the lead agency for Australia’s participation in the Invictus Games with the Chief of the Australia Defence Force determining Australia’s participation in this event.
The Invictus Games is a part of the Adaptive Sports Program (ASP), what is it all about?
The program uses the power of sport to support the recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration of servicemen and women through adaptive sports. To learn about the program and how you can get involved, visit here.
How do you apply and how are individuals selected for the ASP?
The program is open to current and former serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel who have become wounded, injured or ill (WII) during or as a direct consequence of their service. Click here to read about the process and selection criteria.
I’d like to apply for the next Invictus Games as a competitor?
Unfortunately expressions of interest have not yet opened for the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027. Once expressions of interest are open, we will promote through our newsletter and social pages. Make sure you sign up to the newsletter to keep up to date and follow our social channels.
Once you sign up, you will receive results and updates on the current Games as well as being informed of other sporting events and activities.
