Curling isn’t a common sport in Australia, Competitor and Warrior Games Alumna Jo Lovell had never even set foot in a curling rink before being selected for Team Australia. Now one of her favourite sports she will be competing in in Canada, Jo shares with us what she loves about the sport.
In this adaptive sport, competitors slide stones across the ice, aiming to out-strategise opponents by placing their stones closer to the target—or knocking others out of play. Played in the ‘Condensed Triples’ format, each team has three players on the ice, rotating positions each round, with six stones per team and two per competitor.

With five players on the court at a time, competitors showcase speed, agility, and sharp tactical skills, maneuvering their wheelchairs to outplay opponents, shoot hoops, and defend their baskets. With the same height hoops as in traditional basketball, this sport highlights incredible precision and endurance of all competitors.
