Boeing makes Invictus Australia commitment Beyond the Games
A new grant from Boeing is supporting Invictus Australia to deliver life-changing sport and recreational programs in local communities. This demonstrates Boeing’s commitment to proactively build mental and physical wellbeing for the broader defence community through the power of sport.
Boeing’s long-term global support of the Invictus movement began with its sponsorship of the Invictus Games Sydney in 2018 and has continued across the Invictus Games program, most recently as Co-Presenting Partner at the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.
Essential equipment for veteran sport and wellbeing
Boeing’s grant will provide sporting equipment and programming for Invictus Australia to help veterans and their families stay active and connected through sport. Pickleball bats, balls, nets and yoga mats will be utilised across the Veteran and Family Hubs where Invictus Australia has a presence, making it easier for veterans to participate in accessible and inclusive activities that support physical and mental wellbeing and build social connections.
Maria Fernandez, president of Boeing Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, said “This grant is about supporting veterans and their families in the communities where they live and work through the power of sport. We’re proud to extend our global engagement with the Invictus movement beyond the Games.” Maria continued;
One in five of our Boeing Australia employees are veterans and together with Invictus Australia, we’re helping build stronger, more inclusive communities where no one feels left behind after service.”
The grant was announced on April 16 during an event at the new Queanbeyan Veteran and Family Hub, bringing together key members from Boeing, Invictus Australia, local members of the veteran community, Invictus Games alumni, staff from the new Hub and the Hon Kristy McBain MP, member for Eden-Monaro and Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories.
The launch showcased the impact of collaboration, with veterans and their families already making use of the newly provided sporting equipment in the state-of-the-art facilities. This Hub, overseen by RSL Lifecare, has been made possible by a grant from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and in partnership with RSL NSW.
Hon Kristy McBain MP, said, “We get the best out of our community when you have entities like government, not for profits and the private sector coming together to create something special. What I love about Invictus is it brings together those aspects of teamwork and camaraderie and the best of the Australian character. Have a crack. Have a go and have a good time.“
Minister McBain continued, “Congratulations to Boeing for continuing this partnership and really cementing it for the long term. Invictus Australia does such a fantastic job right across the country and really highlights what it is to be Australian.”
Glenn Keys AO, Invictus Australia Chairman, shared his appreciation for Boeing’s investment in the defence community and the Invictus movement.
