Invictus Australia is pleased to announce that Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are now open for the 2026 Adaptive Sports Program (ASP), the pathway to participation in the Warrior Games and Invictus Games.
The Adaptive Sports Program is delivered by the Australia Defence Force in partnership with Invictus Australia. The program is for current and former serving ADF personnel from the regular or reserve ADF who have become wounded, injured or ill (WII) during or as a direct consequence of their service.
Invictus Australia is responsible for the former serving contingent and at this time the EOI is open for former serving veterans. The ADF will confirm the process for current serving applications in the near future.
Attendance at the Games will be contingent upon the formal invitation from the DoD Warrior Games organising committee and confirmation from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) that Team Australia will attend.
Please note: Following the 2026 Warrior Games, the ASP will again call for applications for the 2027 ASP, which will help select the team for the next Invictus Games, set for July 2027 in Birmingham. Applying for this intake of the 2026 ASP program will be separate to the intake for the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 process.

About the Adaptive Sport Program (ASP)
The Adaptive Sports Program is all about utilising the power of sport to support recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration of participants and through their resilience and stories, raise awareness of the issues faced by veterans and families. Delivered in partnership with the Australian Defence Force, the program prepares and selects Team Australia for Warrior Games and Invictus Games.
Selection is not based on sporting performance or athletic ability, but on how participation in the Adaptive Sport Program could positively impact an individual’s recovery journey. If you want to understand the eligibility and selection requirements, you can learn more here.
Next steps
There are limited positions available for the ASP and not every eligible person will be selected. Following the closing date for EOIs for the ASP, a process of accepting individuals into the program will commence, which will reduce the pool down to a small squad that will keep training towards achieving selection in Team Australia.
Unfortunately, many who apply will miss out on involvement in the ASP. However, Invictus Australia encourages and supports all individuals who apply to re-commence or continue their journey toward life-long participation in sport.
Invictus Australia partners with a variety of organisations across the country to provide alternative sporting pathways that mirror the outcomes of the ASP and those for social benefit.
