Everyone from comedy greats like Hamish Blake to Olympians, Paralympians, MPs, Invictus Ambassadors, and Aussie sporting legend Sam Kekovich, some of our favourite Aussies have come together to wish the 33-strong contingent the best of luck for their Invictus Games campaign. The messages reminded the group that the whole of Australia is supporting them, inspired by their stories of determination and resilience.
Watch the video below to hear the group wish Team Australia good luck and share some tips and words of advice.
Leading the charge was Hon Matt Keogh, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel, who told the cohort;
All of Australia is right behind you, we know you are going to do us proud.
This sentiment was echoed by the Ellie Cole, who told the cohort that, “we all know how incredibly inspiring your resilience and determination have been, but to see the [Invictus] movement evolve… speaks testament to how much of an impact each of you have.”
After wishing Team Australia Good luck, Hon Barnaby Joyce MP also offered some words of advice for the team, sharing“My tip is to go for it, do your training enjoy it and don’t hang your hat so much on the results, hang your hat on the participation.”
Gladys Berejiklian, a long time Invictus supporter and Managing Director, Enterprise and Business at one of our Corporate Partners, Optus, was eager to share how learning about Team Australia’s stories had affected her life, telling the group that “in inspiring yourselves and pushing your boundaries, you’re inspiring all of us to dig that bit deeper and do our best.”
