For many Defence families, sport gives them someth

For many Defence families, sport gives them something to bond over, aswell as a way they can maintain their physical and mental health. This is the case for the Wilson Family. Gary Wilson, served for 20 years in the Australian army, before a helicopter crash halted his career. Gary, with the support of his wife Renee, overcame all odds, using sport to help aid in his recovery journey.

Last week, Invictus Australia Veteran Engagement Manager Jye was able to facilitate a special opportunity for the Wilson family. Footy fanatics Gary, Renee and their children Abbie and Lachie, were invited to the Anzac Day Cup match between the @sydneyroosters and @nrl_dragons, and given the role of bringing out the Cup before the match began.

Thank you to the @nrl for providing this unique opportunity to the Wilson Family.

The Invictus Australia family, many of them veterans and family members, were up at dawn for Anzac Day to acknowledge and commemorate all those who have served our country, both past and present.

Today, we commemorate the strength and resilience of those who have, or continue to serve. At Invictus Australia, staff, many of whom are veterans or family members themselves, have marked the day in their own personal ways.
