MEET THE TEAM | Last up, let us introduce you to the second half of our NSW competitors. Meet:

💛 Cindy, who gains just as much enjoyment watching her 6 children and 8 (nearly 9) grandchildren participate in sports as she does when she competes herself.
🖤 Colin, who has a diverse sports background, playing rugby union from the age of 8 and has even competing in sailing at the state level.
💛 Jason, who has always loved sports, having tried CrossFit, Muay Thai, Aussie rules, rugby union, surfing and snowboarding to name a few.
🖤 Justin, who enjoys getting out of the house and active - kiteboarding, stand-up paddleboarding and skiing are a few of his favourite ways to do so.
💛 Alex, who is competing to show his 7-year-old son Max that while people have different challenges, you can achieve so much with determination and the support of those around you.
🖤 Jarryd, who grew up playing AFL. Rugby League and Touch football for his local clubs.

Sport has always been a massive part of Ocean Tomk

Sport has always been a massive part of Ocean Tomkins' life. He began swimming at just four years old, quickly realising that it was his passion. When he joined the Defence Force, his love for sport did not change, however the role it played in his life did. Sport went from being about maintaining his physical fitness to how it could help to provide him with a critical support system and help him to combat social isolation and find his community.

When injuries and mental ill health caused Ocean to put a pause on the sports he loved, he turned to adaptive sports to help to support him in his recovery. It was when he made this change, that he was first introduced to Invictus Australia Local Veteran Engagement Manager, Debbie, who connected him to local sporting opportunities with other veterans and families.
